Tuesdays With Dorie…Caramel-Peanut-Topped Brownie Cake

For this week’s TWD, Tammy of Wee Treats by Tammy chose Caramel-Peanut-Topped Brownie Cake on pages 264 and 265. After a couple of weeks without participating, this one was a fun one to bring me back!

While I wasn’t a big fan of the “cake” part of the recipe (mine was a little too dry on the edges and super sunk in the center) I LOVE the caramel part. Most importantly, I loved making the caramel. LOVED. As in, I might make caramel all the time now. All. The. Time. I cooled some and made it into candy and gave a piece to Jon. I told him I made it. Huh, he said. I didn’t know caramel was something you could MAKE.

Me either.

That has to be one of the best things about TWD. I am learning so much!! Sure, my ass is getting as fat as a shaved bisons, but I AM LEARNING. So Thanks Tammy for letting me learn to make this!!

Now head on over to see what the rest of the gang thought. I imagine the verdict is YUM.

Haha, that was one of my coworkers comments – that he didn’t even know you could make caramel. This recipe is super simple too, which is awesome. Beautiful brownie cake!

A shaved bison, you say? What exactly does that look like? hahahahahahaha.

An awesome looking cake – but the dry factor is what stopped me from making it. But hey, at least you discovered how EASY it is to make caramel.

Oh…the caramel is the best part.

I am thinkin that maybe cut a circle in the center and eat that.

Wow… I’m amazed!
That deep crater filled with the peanutty caramel… seems like it is calling my name; and frankly with pictures like yours… I’m ready to dive in! LOL

The caramel was SO amazing, wasn’t it??? The cake was not very good, but seriously, the caramel.

Your pictures are gorgeous (as usual!)

Wow, your cake did sink… kind of like a chocolate bowl you got there, lol. But what could be better for this awesome caramel? Glad it worked out for you.

Wow, that’s an impressive caramel layer you have! Your cake looks awesome. And making caramel is definitely fun, but sometimes messy… especially if you aren’t paying close enough attention… =)

Love the set up look to your caramel, mine didn’t do that! Yep, the caramel and nuts were the best part. May try this on some brownies sometime as the cake WAS dry.
