Did you know that tday, March 14, is Official Pie Day? Well, Pi Day, anyway, and us Tarts from the Pie Group “You Want Pies With That” are all posting our creations today in honor of it!

This time around our theme was chosen by Elizabeth of Cake or Death, and she chose “Herbs & Spices.” For my entry I chose to pair a Chocolate Tart crust with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, simple syrup and Lemon Basil. I topped it with a bit of sweetened whipped cream.

I won’t worry about supplying a recipe here, as I have more exciting Pie News!
The great people over at Emile Henry have been kind enough to supply a Pie Dish to one lucky DoughMessTic Reader! Valued at $45.00, this is one great prize! What better way to commemorate Pie Day than with a fantastic Pie Dish…these are such high quality you’ll by itching to get every item in their inventory.I was lucky enough to win one myself in theKitchn’s Pie Bakeoff last year, and have used it repeatedy! The craftsmanship? Top notch. Imagine a perfectly baked pie every time! (and if you are like me and can still mess one up, well, at least it will LOOK great in this Pie Dish!) I am more than impressed with the Emile Henry line up…there are so many things I want!
Now, what do you have to do to win a Pie Dish of your very own, in the color of your choice?
One of many things…the more you do, the better chance you have to win. So here’s what your options are. Remember, for each item you do, comment on this post. If you do two things, leave two separate comments, and so forth. Good luck everyone!

I already have your blog on my google reader.
you’re on my blog reader!
and I posted about your post – the science geek in me can’t resist anything linked to pi day
http://entropykat.blogspot.com/2009/03/pi.html
as for his website- how is someone supposed to pick one thing? it’s all so amazing- can I have it all? I’d love a set of his dishes – they’re very much like the cheapy target dishes we got-but way better! and of course, I’m fascinated by the chemistry of them and how they can go from freezer to oven….
as for colors, I think the Vert calls to me the most with azur and sky right up there – they’re all so pretty!
I am now following your blog! Wish I’d found it sooner. Lots of great items
If I had to pick one item, I’d probably go with the mixing bowls. I love mixing bowls and can’t help but buy more and more of them!
For the pie dish, I have to agree with Katie that I like the Vert best.
ok – I’m following you on twitter now
and I tweeted about your giveaway too
Mmm, that pie looks delicious! I am a follower of your blog–a very proud follower! (This is such a cool giveaway!!)
Oh, I’m so glad you introduced me to the Emile Henry website! I love all of their stuff. The item I’m thinking about buying right now–okay this is boring–the stackable ramekins! I need them so badly. As for colors, I really like the cerise and the vert!
i found you on twitter
and have tweeted about the giveaway!
and after looking through their site, I think I would like the stackable ramekins in the Azur, to be exact! I have always wanted a set, but have yet to get them.
as for the color pie dish… Azur of course! I LOVE blue!!!
I like the Crème Brûlée Dish, Azur and I would love the pie plate in pink.
I love Emile Henry (even if I have no idea how to correctly pronounce it). I already have the cerise mixing bowls and keep them on my counter because they’re too pretty to lock up. I’d love the cerise pie plate to match! Thanks for organizing this!
Flame Top Braiser, 3.4 qt, Red is my favorite product and I love the FIG pie dish
follow on twitter
Your tart looks so refreshing! That is a great giveaway! I think my favorite product is the tagine, but I love that pie dish in figue -gorgeous!
I already follow you.
Incidentally, I would follow you anywhere!
Just twittered it. I’ll be back in a bit after I post something too.
And….. post is up! http://phemomenon.blogspot.com/2009/03/buttermilk-spice-muffins.html
Hi! I subscribed to you in my google reader!
And I’ve mentioned the giveaway on my blog!
Hi I added your blog to my sidebar on my blog. I’m Karin Smith and I’m just starting to check out these food blogs. I’d love to win something right off the bat
First, I am so jealous of how beautiful everything you make always looks! I just had to get that out. Is it weird that my favorite thing on Emile Henry is the spoon rest? It’s the one thing I never buy and always need
And the pie plate in citron is awesome! I’m going to throw up a link to your giveaway now
And here’s the link to my blog post: http://youcanteatwhat.blogspot.com/2009/03/whats-more-fun-than-giveaway.html
Great, great, great giveaway! I visited Emile Henry and I’m loving the “slate” pie dish!
I just twittered about the giveaway with a link to your site…
I sent an email to join You Want Pies with that a couple of days ago (haven’t heard back…did I sign up correctly?)…entered my first pie 3/14…hopefully a future pie will be in a beautiful slate Emile Henry Pie plate
…forgot to tell you my favorite item was the flame round stewpot..in Fig.
What lovely photos! Btw, the tangine at Emile Henry really caught my eye. As for pie dishes, I’d want the classic blanc, but might lean toward the fig, since purple’s my son’s favorite color! Libby
…and I’m already one of your fellow creative tarts at YWPWT?
Why have I never heard of this brand before?! I love everything, but the platters most of all–probably because I desperately need some. The pie dish is so cute–I love the Azul blue. It reminds me of the ocean.
Thanks!
I am no following you on my google page! yay!
Oh and I’m following you on twitter too!
I like their braisers and the dishes best of all. Actually , I like ALL of their products but those are things I would be most inclined to purchase. I like the green pie dish.
I have already posted my entry for YWPWT this month – yours look yummy, too!
I’d be tickled to win any color pie dish, but I think the cerise (red) would add some fun and whimsy to my kitchen.
I’m now following you through my feed reader.
I’ve blogged about the giveaway here: http://twolittlemonkeysjumpingonmyhead.blogspot.com/2009/03/another-cool-giveaway.html
I love their Dutch Ovens. The pie dish is really cute. Azure would go with my kitchen, however the girly girl in me would love the pink!
What a great looking pie! Happy Pi Day to you! (and I’m in YWPWT)
Mmmm, your tart looks so tasty! I love strawberries with basil. Yum.
Oh man, I would totally want their butter crock. You know, the one that creates that airtight seal because the “bell” of the butter is suspended in water? I love the thought of room temp butter. In any case, the pie dish in vert (or any hue) would be gorgeous!
May Canadians enter? I like the Azur Kitchen Bowl, and I’d love a chance to win a pie dish in Azur.
Wow, your pie really sounds delicious, I love all of those ingredients separately so I can only imagine how they would taste together.
Nice job!
I guess I like the pink pie plate best
You make me hungry =_T
I celebrate pie day everyday~
Beautiful entry! I love it. Also, this post made me realize that you weren’t on my feedreader! So, I fixed it. Thanks.
Oh, and I love the Emile Henry lasagne dishes. But that may just be because I am lately discovering my shortage of them.
A blue pie plate would be beautiful. It would match my dishes nicely.
Your pie looks wonderful. I love the combo of strawberries and basil.
