in cake, Sweet Sevens Cakes

I’ve had so many cakes as of late I can’t even put them all in one post!  But, I figured a few might be good – at least a good start!  Here are 6 until I can get the rest cropped and uploaded.

Let’s see…the first cake was an Elvis Inspired cake.  It was dreamsicle flavored.  The vintage posters were printed with food coloring on wafer paper (so fully edible) and the “flames” were pulled sugar.

The second was a HUGE cake, made to look like old books.  The cake was for the celebration of National Library Week, and was ordered by our Town Library. Please excuse the photo quality – the cake was so big it was hard to get a picture of!

The third cake was a baseball themed cake for a 10 year old.  Only the baseball is covered in fondant, the rest is colored buttercream.  The dirt of the field was made using graham cracker crumbs.

The next cake was a big Dora the Explorer cake, a cake that my son, Seven, reallllly wanted to keep.  It took forever!  Coloring each section of fondant took so much longer than I planned – a total of 11 different colors in this cake!  The flavor was a great choice – devil’s food filled with chocolate Oreo mousse.  Yum.

The fifth cake was a wedding cake (duh).  The bride’s colors were royal blue and silver, plus her flowers were daisies.  So, we made it work in cake form!  The flavor was devils food with caramel filling and chocolate mousse with cut up Milky Way candy bars.  A daring bride, I say!  Good for her.

The last cake was a Barbie Cake.  Her dress is entirely made of fondant, except for the center which was buttercream covered in multi-colored sprinkles.  Apparently the little customer who received the cake thought I might work for Ace of Cakes – how sweet is that?

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post about Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies (oh my word!) and then on Monday – a $100 Carrabba’s Gift Card Giveaway!  (Oh yeah, how about a free KitchenAid Mixer sometime this week, too?  Sound good?)

See you then!

Wow, those cakes are so impressive. How long does it normally take for you to finish one and where do you get your ideas? I applaud your amazing talent!

Absolutely, stunningly beautiful cakes. While you may not work for Ace of Cakes, you are our ace of cakes.

Gorgeous cakes, I didn’t know you had Milky Way bars over there, I wonder if they’re the same as ours?
