So, it’s Friday.
I said I would post my eye experiment by today, and I am here to do just that. I am still using the iPhone to take pics, so, forgive the quality. But I just don’t want to try to figure out the whole expensive camera self timer feature. I don’t think it matters too much the quality – it’s the experience.
And I want to say, I am seeing a bit of change here already. Already.
You see, I set out to do my eyes. But, in doing my eyes, I felt the rest of my face needed a little boost, too. So, I did my typical makeup routine, just a little more care. And I curled my hair, as if I have a special place to go…which I kind of do, but I hardly count a restaurant lunch as something super special. (Okay, yes, I do. I lied. Anytime I get to go somewhere and do something other than bake a cake or wipe a butt, that’s pretty darned special.) SO, not only did my eyes get little makeover, my attitude, my face, my outfit – all played a part. And it makes me FEEL better. Like, less slobby. Less – well, less Mommy Pajama and more…something else. I don’t know the right word for it.![]()
So, my eyes. Hard to tell here, but I used a shimmery pale teal on both my upper lids and just below my lash line as well. I NEVER wear color on my eyes. Ever. Brown, ivory – okay. But no color. Believe it or not, I think it makes my eyes a little more POP. As an art major in college, I would have thought otherwise. My eyes, naturally, are kind of gray/blue. I was always taught that browns brought out blue eyes. This teal does it moreso. I’m not going to try to figure it all out today – just making an observation.
I’ve seen that a few of you are playing along with me, posting on your own websites. I hope you will also post a link here on this post as well…and get that sweet shot out there on Facebook, too. I guarantee someone, somewhere, is going to notice. They may not say anything, but they WILL notice. And what if it’s another Mom, a Mom feeling the same funk as we are – and you inspire her?
You can be someone else’s inspiration – their motivation for feeling good again.
You were certainly responsible, in so many ways, mine.
See you here in a few days for the next challenge. Have a GREAT weekend, and keep on keeping on.
PS – Hell, yes, I am wearing clothes. I wouldn’t do that to you!!

The teal does bring out your eyes more! I like the look – and I agree that the more natural the makeup looks, the better. You are gorgeous!
Gorgeous!! That teal does something…I think it might be the green that makes your eyes turn so blue. (Like red turns my eyes green.) Whatever it is, keep it up!!!! Covergirl has a new “shadow eye” stick, with complementary colors on either end. I have the pink and brown, and it’s kind of fun!)

Beautiful!!! I’m inspired to do mine now. Thanks! : )
The teal looks beautiful on you. You look so young. Lucky girl.
Since you were an art major, you will understand what I am talking about. I am a professional makeup artist so I have a few tricks.
The best thing to do to bring out your eye color is either to use a complimentary color (for blue it would be a peachy color, brown could work, but peach is better) or a similar color. If you have eyes that are color changing or as you described, grey blue (or blue green), a trick is: if you wear grey shadow it will make your eyes stand out as blue in comparison. Of course then, your eyes will look more grey with blue shadow. For blue green, they will look more blue with green shadow and more green with blue shadow. If you want any more specific tips or have any specific makeup question feel free to ask me. I am happy to help.
beautiful!
